  • How many people can I bring with me?
Our vessel is a certified six-pack charter, which means we can accommodate a maximum of six guests per trip. This is a Coast Guard regulation for safety and compliance, and unfortunately, we can't make exceptions-even for extra kids or small passengers. Thanks for understanding!
  • Do I need a fishing license?
If you're 16 or older, you'll need a valid CA fishing license. You can grab one online at wildlife.ca.gov, or pick one up in person at Walmart, Big 5, or at local tackle shops. A one day pass is fine!
  • Do I need to bring fishing gear?
It is not neccessary to bring fishing gear. Captain Greg provides gear that is maintained seaonally. You are welcome to bring your own if you'd like.
  • What to wear and bring on board
Dress in Layers. Weather can change quickly, so be prepared for both wind and sun. No Scuff Shoes. Please wear soft-soled, non-marking shoes to help keep the deck clean and safe. Food and Drinks Welcome. You're welcome to bring snacks and beverages, but: -No glass containers -No oversized coolers Thanks for helping us keep things comfortable and safe for everyone on board.
  • What if I want to return to shore because of seasickness?
There are no refunds for seasickness. It is recommended that precautions are taken prior to boarding. Many remedies exist including over the counter medications, aromatherapy, watching the horizon while aboard, and using acupressure. Remember to stay hydrated, and breathe in the fresh air. If you are feeling as if you may be sick, PLEASE stay on deck and return your last meal to the sea. Mother Ocean doesn't mind, but your crew might!! (This guy is doing it right!)
  • What happens if there's bad weather on the day of my charter?
Captain Greg always prioritizes safety first. He may cancel a charter in the event of inclement weather, a small craft advisory, or strong winds. Fishing trips are not typically cancelled due to rain, please dress accordingly. If your charter is cancelled by Stewart's Sportfishing due to weather conditions, you'll have the option to reschedule your trip or receive a full refund. We'll keep you informed and make every effort to accommodate your plans.
  • What is included for the price of the charter?
Our charters include all necessary fishing equipment, cold bottled water, a variety of soft drinks, and light snacks to keep you refreshed throughout the trip. Our experienced deckhand will provide gear and fish handling, baiting, and instruction if needed. For your comfort, we offer an enclosed private bathroom on board. At the end of the trip, we provide fish filleting services for most catches, with the exception of tuna due to specific regulations.
  • Where do I board? Where do I park?
Boarding most often takes place at the Jolly Roger Restaurant Dock/Visitor's Dock in Oceanside Harbor. The address is 1900 North Harbor Drive, Oceanside, Ca. Parking can usually be found nearby and along Harbor Drive. Please be careful not to park in slip renter parking. Occasionally pick up will be at a different location, we will be sure to inform you if needed.
  • Should I tip the crew?
Tips are never expected but always appreciated. Your captain and deckhand work hard to ensure your fishing trip is safe, fun, and unforgettable. If you feel they've gone above and beyond, a gratuity is a great way to show your appreciation. A typical tip ranges from 15-20% of the charter cost.
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
To book and confirm your trip, an online deposit is required. Please note that a processing fee may be applied to online payments. The remaining balance is due prior to trip departure, and can be paid to the Captain with cash, credit card, PayPal, or Venmo. You'll also have the option to pay in full online at the time of booking (subject to the same processing fees.)
  • What is your policy for cancellations or rescheduling a trip?
Cancellations more than 72 hours of trip date and time will receive a full refund. **Cancellations less than 72 hours of trip date and time, or no shows, will forfeit the cost of the trip.** Please contact Stewart's Sportfishing for rescheduling at least 24 hours before your trip, we will do our best to accommodate. If your trip is cancelled by Stewart's Sportfishing due to weather, mechanical issues, or Captain issues, you will receive a full refund.
